A horrific case of animal cruelty in Fanchikovo
On October 15, 2025, in the village of Fanchikovo, Berehove District, Zakarpattia Region, a shocking case of animal cruelty occurred, which stunned not only local residents but the entire region.
According to eyewitnesses, local resident Ivan Chorba, while heavily intoxicated, tied his Labrador dog to a motor tractor and dragged it along a dirt road. People who witnessed this horrific act could not stand by and tried to stop the man immediately.
When the witnesses reached the scene, they saw a horrific sight: an exhausted, bloodied dog lying on the cold ground, tied to a chain. The animal was barely moving, but still breathing. People immediately freed the dog, provided first aid, and called a veterinarian. At the same time, information about the incident began to spread actively on social media, calling for help to save the animal.
It was thanks to the publicity on Facebook and the quick response of caring people that the dog’s life was saved. After being examined by a veterinarian, the dog was taken to the Vynogradiv Animal Control Center, where he immediately received the necessary care. According to the Center’s employees, the animal was in serious condition: numerous injuries, deep abrasions, and general exhaustion. The Labrador is currently undergoing intensive treatment and is under round-the-clock veterinary supervision.
The Center emphasized that the animal is receiving everything necessary for its recovery. The police have opened a criminal case on the grounds of cruelty to animals. The Center’s specialists are preparing a veterinary report, which will be key evidence in the case.

“The most important thing is that the dog is safe. After treatment, a new family is waiting for him.”
