In Uzhhorod, on Shandor Petofi Square, patrol officers received a report that animal sounds could be heard coming from a parked Hyundai car

Upon arriving at the scene, the inspectors heard meowing coming from under the hood. We immediately located the owner of the car in order to rescue the animal.

After the owner opened the hood, the patrol officers found a frightened cat hiding on the battery. They got the animal out and made sure it was okay.

Since no one else was willing to take the cat in, patrol officer Oleksandr Patskan decided to take it home.

This story had a happy ending, but it serves as a reminder. With the onset of cold weather, stray animals seek warm shelter in your cars (most often under the hood or near the wheels) and can die when the car starts moving.

To avoid tragedy:

knock on the hood before starting the engine;
quickly check the wheel arches.

This information was reported by the Patrol Police of Ukraine.
