How to help stray animals in winter

These simple tips will help save the life of a stray animal.

According to the animal welfare organization Uanimals, the difficult life of stray animals in winter becomes unbearable due to cold and hunger. Due to frost and lack of food, dogs die within 15 hours, cats within 6 hours. It is up to people to decide how animals will survive the winter.

How you can help:

1. Feed animals warm food

This can be warm porridge or light soup. You can even buy dry food and pour hot water over it.

2. Pour warm water for animals

In cold weather, water freezes very quickly in bowls, so it is worth pouring warm water and checking the bowl from time to time. In this case, it will not freeze as quickly and the animal will be able to warm up at least a little.

3. Let them warm up

If possible, let the animals warm up in the entrance hall. Once they get warm, they immediately fall asleep, which allows them to regain their strength. Also, check the basement windows to make sure they are not boarded up.

You can use a regular box. You can wrap the outside of the house with tape and put warm sweaters or other old clothes inside. We recommend placing the boxes on a wooden pallet so that the cold from the ground does not get inside.

5. Find a family

The best thing you can do is give a homeless animal a family and a home. Temporary housing and shelters are also options for keeping animals from freezing while you look for a family for them. However, with the war, shelters are overflowing with abandoned animals, so you can help these institutions by spreading the word so that animals are taken in by families more quickly.

Each of us has the power to help animals survive the cold weather; the main thing is not to stand aside. Spread the word and join in saving animals suffering from the war.
